Joon heard her, and was a bit surprised. Yet another girl that was older than him. He sighed inwardly before looking at her again, just in time to notice that she was staring at him, and she didn’t even look away when he caught her gaze.

“Uhm…” he said softly, a bit embarrassed. He suppressed the color that tried to flood his cheeks, biting his tongue hard to keep himself composed. Turning away slightly, to hide his bare chest from her, he laughed awkwardly, “I like your outfit… It looks pretty,” he nodded, just trying to make small talk to deter her staring.

It was one thing to have people stare at him while he was on the runway, because then he could always look to the lights and blind them out. But when people stared at him up front in his face, it was hard to keep himself from feeling a little embarrassed, and slightly ashamed, for being half naked in front of a young lady. His mother, most certainly, would not approve of this situation.

“But, yeah! See, I got your age right… I’m good with ages,” he winked. “Does that mean you’re in high school still, or have you already graduated?” He asked, a bit genuinely interested in knowing the answer.

Sora looked away from the abashed male model to stare down at herself. A pitch fitted double layered dress with an exposed back cut and lace sleeves and trim constricted her body. “Thanks.” She threw him a flirty smirk and walked over the endless line-up of shoes, not sure which to choose for her outfit. She crouched down as she examined each nearby pair.

“I’m on my 2nd year of college,” She answered, reaching for a pair of black Carvela Ambrosia pumps. “Well, starting my 2nd year…” Sora placed the heels back and settled on short ankle Fendi cut-out boots, black suede with dark-gray sequined leopard-print embellishment and almond toe. She got herself up from place on the floor and walked to the divan against the wall, removing her bunny slippers to fill in her chosen stilettos.

He was finally given something to wear. Snagging the clothes, he half followed her, “Em…. 19 or 20 maybe?” He asked, giving her a once over before she went into the booth. He went into his own, quickly changing, careful not to mess up his make up and hair as he did.

Once he was finished, he came out, stretching his arms over his head a bit. He was wearing skinny jeans and a studded belt, a jacket that hung open exposing his bare chest. Pulling his lips into a bit of a smirk, he looked at himself in the mirror with a stretch, almost a queue for the make up artist to come back and start to spray his abs to make them shimmer a bit.

“Yeah, 19…” She replied, not sure if he heard her or not. She studied herself in the mirror, adjusting her outfit and letting the material settle onto her body, making sure she was comfortable. She ruffled her hair, bring her flat curls back to life before she had to deal with the hair yanking stylist again, and pulled the curtain open to exit the small changing room.

Her eyes landed on Changsun and his outfit, scanning his torso and admiring his tanned skin. She didn’t try to hide her actions; there was no reason for it. Sora was upfront and direct, if she had something to say she’d say it, and if she liked what she saw, she’d stare.

“And your age?”

He laughed a bit, “Really? I love the chaos! It’s fun… And you get to see silly things happen, like mistakes that people make… I mean, they aren’t funny if they ruin the show!” He quickly tried to recover, “But they are funny sometimes… you know?” He wrinkled his nose lightly, looking at her a bit more.

One of the stylists came over with his clothes and he stood slowly out of his chair, letting them hold them up to his frame, deciding what to put him in. His eyes, all the while, still on his new friend. “You’ve been working for so long! Wait… How old are you then?” He asked softly, his voice getting a bit low as his accent, which he was trying to hide, slipped out into his speech. He wasn’t that good at hiding his accent usually, he had to concentrate extremely hard to do it. Sometimes, it was embarrassing when he slipped up and just sounded like a bumbling person. English was his third language, so he couldn’t help but be a bit bad at it.

“I think that’s one of the main reason why most go to fashion shows,” she unhooked her already set outfit from the rack nearby, looking over to the display the stage setters put up, still a little unsure of what it was. “I know that’s why I would go.”

She walked back over to Changsun, standing before him as the swarm of stylist prepped him for an outfit, their minds never made up of what to put him in. She laughed softly, barely audible as she watched him stand still, letting the fashion consultants do as they pleased with him.

“How old do I look?” She asked, making her way to the empty stall in the back of the room, his prominent tone of particular syllables not going unnoticed as she entered the cubicle and started stripping; folding her casual apparel before slipping into the assigned attire for the shoot.

Joon toned down the smiles, a bit embarrassed, pursing his lips lightly. “Y-Yeah… I’m a call out… I haven’t done shoots or shows in a while though…” He let out a soft sigh and shifted in his seat.

“I guess I’m a sort of vet,” he chuckled a bit at the thought, perking up a bit more, “I’ve been doing runway since I was 15…” He nodded. “What about you? How long have you been working?”

She chuckled at the boy’s embarrassment, turning back to look at him through the vanity mirror as the styler worked on his finishing touches. She remembered when she was just as excited as Changsun when she was offered to be an official model for the bold, idiosyncratic magazine. She had always loved their innovative photography, their heavy emphasis on music and art, and their choice of models more often interesting looking than beautiful. She was ecstatic to be recognized by the company, quickly agreeing to work for them.

Sora continued to listen as Changsun spoke, taken by surprised when he told her he’d done fashion shows. She should have expected it – with his sharp captivating features, he was sure to catch designers’ attention. But at 15 years of age? Sora was quite impressed.

“That’s amazing, really.” She turned in her seat as the stylist finished with her, walking over to the next model across the room. “I’ve been modeling for 10 years now. Started with small stuff before being offered to model for Nylon. I just transferred here from London.” She flashed a friendly smile, standing from her seat. “But I don’t think I can ever put up with the chaos that goes on backstage at those runway shows. Too hectic. My life’s already wild as it is.”
